IRONWOOD is a Spanish gem tucked into the hills of Los Feliz, and a reminder that thoughtful design doesn’t have to be grand in scale to be meaningful. With a careful, almost surgical approach, we wove new ecological layers into the existing framework of the garden—stitching past and present in a way that feels effortless and rooted in place. Soon, this hillside will pulse with the movement of local songbirds, pollinators, and the quiet rhythms of a restored urban ecosystem.

Small sites often carry the most complexity. Guided by our clients’ deep love for the garden, we explored several iterations and spent time on-site uncovering the subtle nuances of this charming, sloped landscape. That collaboration continued through installation, ensuring each decision—large or small—supported the larger intention: bringing big nature to a small space in a way that feels alive, resilient, and deeply personal.

This project came to life through close collaboration with Jon and Devon, whose love for the garden helped guide each decision along the way. Installation was led with care by Natural Earth LA, and the final work was beautifully documented by erika bierman.
